Job Summary:
Engineer and/or coordinate sound requirements (equipment, material and labor) for productions in the Claire Trevor Theater, Smith Hall, Studio Theater, and Little Theatres, as well as School of the Arts productions in the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Provide continuity in the use of sound equipment between all performance spaces, including the Nixon Theatre, the Multi Media Performance Space (MMPS) and the outdoor amphitheater. Attend meetings and discuss designs with faculty and students. Responsible for trouble shooting and resolving all audio and intercom related issues on all productions. Design and direct the installation of larger overhead rigging systems for sound equipment. Assist the students in the design and installation of lower risk overhead rigging for sound equipment. Responsible for recording of certain prerecorded messages and safety announcements for Dance, Drama, Music, or CTSA guest productions. Engineer all public address and large event sound reinforcement events, including managing requirements, location, and quantity of support. Engineer large-scale recordings for produced shows and offsite performances, except for those typically handled by the Assistant Production Manager in the Dept. of Music.
